1998 - Present Solo Practitioner

Since 1998, I have focused my law practice solely on family law issues. I practice primarily in the family courts of Harris County. I handle all aspects of family law. I accept contested and uncontested cases and represent both men and women. By utilizing current technology, I am able to represent people all over the United States and the world in their Houston cases. I attend continuing legal education seminars that focus on family law issues to keep myself up-to-date in this continually changing area of the law. For legal problems outside the scope of family law, I attempt to refer callers to another attorney that I know and respect.

1994 - 1997 Solo Practitioner

I was heavily involved in two corporate litigation cases involving numerous court appearances. Both corporate litigation cases were eventually mediated successfully. I have also been involved in a general civil practice including wills, probate, personal injury, consumer protection, creditor harassment, family law, and other law issues.

1990 -1994 Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, Inc.
Project Coordinator and Staff Attorney

I began this position as a part-time law school student when HVLP's

AIDS Project was just a few months old. After I graduated, I worked full-time. The AIDS Project became one of the premier AIDS legal service programs in the U.S. It was one of four pro-bono programs featured in a video distributed across the country to encourage attorneys to volunteer their expertise in assisting indigent clients.

My duties included writing grants, recruitment of volunteer attorneys, public speaking, representing the program at professional functions in Texas and across the U.S., assisting in budget preparation, publicity, coordinating activities with the Houston Bar Association's AIDS committee, assisting other AIDS legal service projects in getting organized and numerous other tasks associated with running a non-profit organization.

This position was wide-range in scope and included detailed discussions with many families and individuals regarding their legal requirements. I represented Harris County indigent residents with their civil legal problems including family law, bankruptcy, consumer problems, wills, and landlord / tenant issues.

I handled many debtor/creditor issues for clients. My clients included people that had always been indigent as well as people that had been financially secure until the disease of AIDS changed their lives and depleted their assets.

I enjoyed the project because it allowed me to be autonomous in an already established, well-respected Bar Association. The AIDS Project was challenging, yet one of the most satisfying experiences of my life. The changing face of AIDS forced the Project to constantly re-evaluate itself to keep in touch with client needs. I am very proud of the quality of services we provided to Harris County indigent clients.
